Now this 5.3 is consuming 3 quarts of oil every 3,000 miles!? I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY 2012 5.3L 1500LT.IT USES ON THE AVERAGE 4QTS OF OIL BETWEEN EACH OIL CHANGE. My 2003 ran 221,pop miles with no problem. Lifters are engine starts knocking cuz due to lifter problems cylinder number 1, I have 2010 GMC Sierra with a 5.3 . I own at 2013 suburban and do have heavy oil consumption. I have a 2013 suburban that I just put $2000 into and I still have the same problems. but it was still under the warranty. In fact, we were told that the Avalanche program was projected to carry about the same profit potential as the Silverado on a per-unit basis thanks to its price-positioning power. Took it to local dealer who diagnosed it with bad lifter in cylinder 6 and told me it was a 4500.00 fix. This is also a problem on the 2006-2010 5.3L engines. Have 2013 Silverado 5.3 fouling plugs 1 and 7 has been in shop for the valve cover didn’t work 2 nd time in shop same thing decarbon motor was under warranty now third time 6000 over warranty same thing dealer says need pistons and rings. I have a 2012 silverado I purchased 12/2017 with only 55k miles on it, at 75k I had to put new lifters in it because the defective AFM system. Count me in on the lawsuit. Nobody cares. An oxygen sensor is device whose function is to monitor the exhaust emissions of the vehicle so that it can analyze the air-fuel ratio going through the engine of that vehicle.. To make a long story short, a car needs a proper amount of fuel in order for the fuel to burn properly in the combustion cylinders so that it may run smoothly and may accelerate as required. No one wants to accept responsibility for this and I for one am dam sick of big business sticking it to us. I hate that it is using oil because I love my truck but worried!
